This thread is an example of how group draft practices will be conducted on a regular basis. This will give everyone a somewhat greater knowledge of the cards in the packs an strategies to go towards.

A good example is here, albeit without the Auto-card: http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75842/26575589/Time_Spiral_block_draft

Because you cannot use the auto-card like you can on those forums, you must use Gatherer, found here.

So, how it would work would be like this:

I'm doing MBS-SOM-SOM, since the tournament currently looks as though it's leaning more towards New Phyrexia.

So pack one would be:

Phyrexian Vatmother
Accorder Paladin
Goblin Wardriver
Spiraling Duelist
Phyresis
Loxodon Partisan
Unnatural Predation
Spire Serpent
Horrifying Revelation
Blightwidow
Ardent Recruit
Concussive Bolt
Gnathosaur
Flestermite
Island

Then from there you would debate your choices and explain them. The one most liked is chosen and the packs move on.

My pick would likely be Phyrexian Vatmother because of it's wall of infect power and the like. Other than that, I'd be torn and would very much be considering Goblin Wardriver because it's a great 2 drop with Battle Cry. For this one, I'll take the Vatmother.

Then I would post the next pack and it would continue onward from there:

Picks so far:
Phyrexian Vatmother

Next Pack:
Magnetic Mine
Corrupted Conscience
Core Prowler
Metallic Mastery
Flayer Husk
Fuel For The Cause
Shriekhorn
Hexplate Golem
Koth's Courier
Ichor Wellspring
Morbid Plunder
Leonin Skyhunter
Tine Shrike
Plains

Now this pack is a tough call. Corrupted Conscience immediately stands out, as there's no real green in here to go Green-Black. Given the amount of Phyrexia (especially infect) oriented cards here, it makes me personally glad that the Wardriver wasn't my choice after all in pack 1.

Other cards that really shine in this pack, and why:
  • Core Prowler - If you're going with (mainly) UB infect, you've gotta have some proliferate. This is a good example of your go-to guy.
  • Fuel For The Cause - A counter spell AND a proliferater, but chances are it'll show up in later packs.
  • Ichor Wellspring - When is extra draw power ever a bad thing?
  • Morbid Plunder - Getting those nasty infect creatures back to your hand is always helpful.
  • Tine Shrike - You could splash for white and slip this guy in. Fliers are often very good in draft, and this guy is no exception.

Because most of the others aren't as essential or will likely show up in later packs, I'll take the Corrupted Conscience in case my opponent throws down something big and nasty.

Now that the idea of how this is supposed to work is here, a real one will be posted soon. Keep your eyes peeled.
